Moon & Star represents the religion of Islam. The crescent moon marks the start of a new month in the Islamic calendar and indicates the proper days of Muslim holidays such as Ramadan, a period of prayer and fasting. The moon represents the guidance of God on the path through life. Islam originated in Arabia where travel along the desert trade routes was largely by night, and navigation was highly dependent on the position on the moon and stars.
